Hormone Replacement Therapy
A healthy body is a reflection of the hormonal condition within it. It is the “Symphony” played by all of our hormones that gives a performance worthy of an encore…day after day. If any one instrument does not “perform” with excellence, the entire orchestra is affected. If the brass section plays too loudly, the flutes play too softly, the drummer makes up his own beat, and the cello player just does not show up, chances are your concert will not be an award-winning performance. So it is when our insulin levels are too high, our thyroid hormones are too low, our adrenal glands have their own agenda, and the ovaries are missing. We become overwhelmingly fatigued, overweight, depressed, devoid of memory, and prematurely old in addition to developing high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, cancers and a host of other illnesses. Not quite the performance we would chose for ourselves, is it?
Correcting sex hormones in both sexes promotes higher energy levels, improved memory, improved mood, increased muscle mass, lower cholesterol, increased libido (sex drive), and better sleep. For women, it means the end of hot flashes and night sweats, mood swings, and weight gain around the waist. For men, testosterone replacement not only increases sexual desires and performance, but also increases problem-solving and reasoning skills. Men, too, will see a decrease in abdominal weight.
Thyroid deficiencies lead to fatigue, weight gain, memory loss, trouble concentrating, hair loss, brittle nails, dry skin, constipation, fluid retention, cold intolerance, and difficulty losing weight (even with strict dieting and exercise). These symptoms easily reverse when properly corrected.
Other hormones that are evaluated and corrected, if needed include Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and adrenal gland function. DHEA and even insulin levels are also important to feeling well.
